Fleetwood Mac/Lindsay Buckingham “I’m So Afraid”.
I run numbers…..again and again….ad nauseum! So, I understand trying to get the best deal, making sure the numbers for that new investment property or primary residence really work for you and I understand the concern for making a mistake. I buy and sell property, as well as help others buy and sell in Portland Oregon. No one wants to leave money on the table when selling or overspend when buying real estate. Sometimes the worry can be paralyzing and we “over-analyze ourselves” right out of the ability to make a clear decision. We become “frozen with fear” and sometimes “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”*.
So, how do we break free of the chains of worry? I don’t pretend to know. I do know how I have gotten better at making real estate decisions….by just making them!!! Do the homework, surround yourself with competent advisers and ultimately it comes down to “stepping up to bat”. You can’t factor every possibility, you can’t sidestep every pitfall and you can’t make it through life without making some mistakes. And, I don’t believe anyone, no matter how smart, can always perfectly “time the market”….whether it’s the stock market or the Portland Metro real estate market. That’s the deal! But, whatever you are doing you definitely can’t succeed if you don’t try.
